I painted this at a time when I was experiencing a lot of difficulties in my life and I was just trying to keep swimming forward each day, trying make it look like I had it all together when I can catergorically say I definitely did not. I came out the other side and I hope this painting reminds you to keep swimming too.
Made of many layers of oil and acrylics on vintage wood which cannot be replicated -so this really is one of a kind and can't be re-created or turned into prints. I loved creating the contrast between the rugged industrial vintage wood and the perfect serenity of the swan. Playing with the translucency of the water to make it look a little mystical; up close you can see the front of the swan is very clear and realistic painted with magical tones of light blues and purples in the white of the feathers, towards the back of the swan there are areas where it looks translucent and ethereal where the shadows were created by leaving areas of the body unpainted.
