Painted using acrylics for their bright vivid colours and translucency. The techinque I used for this painting was to start with the background, building up fine layers using a pallet knife, from greens of different beautiful shades to black, allowing each layer to dry before adding the next. I then painted the hummingbird in gradual translucent layers over the top, allowing the background and under layers to poke through in some areas to give it a little magical feel.
